According to research there are likely over 100 million fluorescent and road lamps used in the UK every year which produces more than 3100 tonnes of waste, of which the majority is hazardous.
A little known fact is that each fluorescent lamp contains mercury, and whilst the amount is tiny compared to the lamp itself, if the mercury from just one lamp managed to get in to a water supply, it can contaminate up to 30,000 litres of water resulting in drinking water dropping below the safe drinking standard.
It is now law for all businesses to dispose of their lamps in line with the hazardous waste directives and we can assist with this.
We offer specially designed “coffin” boxes for the safe storage of these bulbs and lamps and subsequently secure and Environmentally sound disposal services. Our rates are very cost effective and can meet with any office or building environment.
We can also safely dispose of projector bulbs, LED’s, light fittings and lighting related waste.
“As a school facilities group, we have had difficulties in disposing of projector lamps and struggled to find s supplier to dispose of them. Haz-stop were marvellous from my first contact with their sales director, Gary through to pick up’s from their drivers. They provided specialist haz-boxes for our lamps and when they required collecting, exchanges were carried out within 5 working days and sometimes the next day. We continue to use them for other waste streams such as lab smalls and WEEE.”
